“Drunken” passengers threw punches at themselves in a vicious brawl on a busy aeroplane during a flight. One passenger, who had reportedly been drinking heavily yesterday afternoon, was restrained by staff on the Scoot plane.

The delayed Flight TR7 was heading from Australia’s Gold Coast to Singapore but had to divert to Sydney, Australia, just one hour and two minutes in.

It is believed fights started flying moments after crew members refused to serve the man any more booze.

It was later confirmed the intoxicated Aussie had punched another passenger and had been handed over to police at Sydney Airport.

And the other travellers had to be transferred onto other flights to complete their long journey to Singapore.

Scoot apologised for the delay and admitted a “disruptive passenger” was on board. It added no one required medical treatment.

Responding to a customer’s complaint on Twitter, Scoot said: “The flight was diverted to Sydney, as there was a disruptive passenger on board. “The passenger was handed to local law enforcement for processing. We have arranged for alternative flights to affected passengers.”
