INEC Officials Bag 7 years In Jail For Receiving Bribes From Alison-Madueke.

Two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been sentenced to seven years in prison for receiving bribes to compromise the 2015 elections.

They were convicted of benefiting from a sum of $115.01m that Diezani Alison-Madueke, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, paid to several people towards compromising the 2015 general election.

The officials, Christian Nwosu, a former INEC Administrative Secretary in Kwara State, and Tijani Bashir, another former INEC official, were found guilty of the offences.

Justice Mohammed Idriss gave the order, on Friday, after both men were found guilty of offences bordering on money laundering to the tune of N265 million.
