Update; Thugs Arrested Ahead Of Elections In Akwa Ibom Make Shocking Confessions.

More facts have emerged on how political violence in Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, was orchestrated on the eve of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly.

On Friday night, two persons were shot dead and about thirteen vehicles destroyed after the hoodlums attacked INEC office in Obot-Akara Local Government Area.

The mayhem, left at least two people dead and vehicles at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in the local council, were completely burnt on the eve of the rescheduled elections in the council.

On the wee hours of Saturday, February 16th, 2019, men of the Nigeria police intercepted a group of cultists/thugs with ammunition at Ikot Ukpong, Obot Akara Local Government Area.

Upon interrogation, they confessed to have been recruited by some politicians in the area for the purpose of helping the a political party win the upcoming elections.

According to confessional statements made to the Police by some of the thugs at the Police Area Command in Ikot Ekpene on Saturday, the hoodlums indicted three top government officials who are wanted to shed more light on their roles in sponsoring the thugs.

The government officials are said to be indigenes of the senatorial district

They further revealed that they were divided into 3 camps to cover the 3 Clans in Obot Akara LGA.

Meanwhile, reports have it that some of the hoodlums have been moved to the Police Headquarters in Abuja for interrogation.
