The impending absence of Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah from Egypt’s squad to battle Nigeria in an international friendly at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba has sent bolts of excitement running through the rank of file of his English Premier League club.

While Nigerian soccer fans believes Salah’s absence from the March 26 international friendly between the Super Eagles and Pharaohs of Egypt will take the shine of the game, Liverpool’s top brass are happy to keep their star player fresh for the EPL title run-in.

It was gathered that The Reds are happy with reports that Salah will not play against the Eagles, four days after he is also billed to miss his country’s last match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Niger Republic.

Egypt play Niger Republic on March 22 before facing Nigeria on March 26 and, if Salah were to feature in both games, he would rack up over 9,000 miles of travelling, which could translate into fatigue and lethargy.

However, Liverpool are happy to learn that Egypt’s Spanish gaffer, Javier Aguirre has decided not to call Salah up and allow him to rest, while also being fresh to help Kop in their EPL title hopes.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side currently sit one point behind leaders, Manchester City in the closing stages of the season, with nine games remaining, and observers believe Salah will be key for The Reds’ hopes of winning a first title since 1990, with Burnley at home and Fulham away to come.

However, while missing out on Egypt’s trip to Asaba, Liverpool are happy that ‘Salah will relax for two weeks before they turn onto the EPL’s home straight.’
