A man shocked the court, when it heard that he body shames his wife calling her a mosquito, comparing her to his other girlfriends.
The man identified as Fortune Marume from Harare, Zimbabwe, was dragged to court by his wife Taramba Tinyai, for physically and emotionally abusing her. Tinyai told the court that her abusive husband was in the habit of tasking his girlfriends to call her mobile and insult her.
”My husband gives his girlfriends my phone number so that they harass me. He once dumped me for three years and when he came back I accepted him that is when I found that I had already built a house using my own money.”
Marume who was accused of infidelity was accused of turning violent whenever his wife questioned him over his illicit affairs.
”Now that I am not working he spends all his money on girlfriends. He says I am not supposed to say anything because he is the one who married me. He doesn’t buy groceries and he calls me a mosquito saying that his girlfriends have ‘assets’ (big bums).”
In mitigation Marume denied the allegations and told the court that he was deeply in love with his wife and was doing his best to take care of her.
Presiding Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti ordered Fortune to protect his wife from his girlfriends insults.
