Read the press statement below.

The Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Hon. Ekanem Brown wishes to condemn in very strong terms the bomb blast detonated in the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state this morning.

The bomb blast occured at exactly 1:46am this morning while collation of results of the governorship and House of Assembly elections were ongoing at the premises but did not cause any serious human casualty.

Two suspects have however been apprehended by military men and handed over to the police. They confessed to being brought from Portharcourt in Rivers state to cause meyhem in MKPAT ENIN in an attempt to disrupt smooth electoral process.

The Council boss is bewildered that despite the fact that various forms of intimidation, politically motivated arrests and physical attacks sponsored by bigwigs of the opposition parties failed to deter the collective will of Mkpat ENIN people to re-elect the performing Governor (Udom Emmanuel) the sponsors of the bomb blast could not give up, but toed such wicked part of bombing the busy INEC premises with intent to outrightly kill their kindreds for the purpose of Political power.

Hon. Brown wishes to remind financiers of the nefarious act that while the People’s Democratic Party campaigned from ward to ward and house to house in the area, that other parties were busy sponsoring ‘military show of force’, arresting PDP faithfuls and undertaking undemocratic action. He wonders why and how they expected to win the elections through the back door when they did not work for victory.

The Chairman however calls for calm as he assures the general public that the bomb blast has not killed anyone as planned by the devil’s incarnates, neither has it affected the overwhelming victory of Governor Udom Emmanuel who has won Mkpat ENIN Local Government Area scoring over eighteen thousand, fifty five (18,055) votes as against the barely four thousand seven hundred and sixty five (4,765) votes garnered by the closest rival, All Progressive Congress, APC.

HON. EKANEM BROWN also wishes to congratulate His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel in advance for a well deserved victory, which has established that power indeed belongs to God and pledges to ensure that the security agencies severely purnish all the people that will be fingered in the bomb blast incident no matter how highly placed in the society.
