The Benue police command has paraded suspected cultists, armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminal elements arrested across the state.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS/ ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM: On 06/03/2019 at about 0830hrs a victim came to ‘B’ Division Police Station and reported that on the same date at about 0338hrs, a gang of armed men broke into his house and robbed him of his Toyota Corolla car valued two million, eight hundred thousand naira (#2, 800, 000.00) and some amount of money he could not specify. The robbers also shot him on his right foot and abducted his eight (8) years old daughter.
During investigation, one Moses Iorha ‘m’ of Mase, Gwer Local Government Area was arrested in connection with the case. The suspect confessed to the crime and stated further that his gang also robbed one other victim at Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi of his pump action gun and other valuables. One pump action gun, one locally made pistol, a Toyota Corolla car and seven live cartridges were recovered from the suspect. Investigation is still in progress.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM: Increase in cult activities within the State have become a thing of serious concern to the command. To this regard, the Command deployed police officers to embark on intelligence gathering, intensive patrols and monitoring to forestall cult activities within the State. Within the period under review, many suspected cultist have been arrested, investigated and charged to court.
The following suspects have also been arrested in the course of this operation at different locations; Fabian Utim ‘m’was arrested at Daudu with one locally made pistol, two (2) live ammunition and one (1) cultlass, Itodo Emmanuel was arrested at Orokam, Ogbadibo Local Government Area with one locally made pistol and one cartridge, Okopi Alonyenu ‘m’was arrested at Otukpo Local Government Area with a Locally made pistol and three (3) live carriages. Bartholomew Umama ‘m’was arrested at Otukpo town with one locally made pistol, four (4) live cartridges, empty shell of cartridge, one (1) knife and some charms.
The Command will continue to work tirelessly towards ensuring a crime free environment. Members of the public are advised to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement around them to the police.
