Ogun State Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Michael Ogbara, has cautioned Nigerians to be wary of fraudsters who place various advertisements of Customs auction sales online.

Ogbara spoke against an advertisement purportedly placed in his name, using his picture, to the effect that the Service had various seized Items, ranging from motor vehicles to bags of rice, vegetable oil and so forth, urging the public to discountenance such claims.

The CAC hinted on how a friend called to intimate him of the strange development of which he (Ogbara) vehemently denounced, adding that it was a mischief, intended to swindle unsuspecting people of their hard earned money.

The Customs boss stated unequivocally that the Service had its mode of disposing of such items through a designated website, stressing that it had not assigned anyone to act in its stead on the issue.

He further said that the Service had at various times made concerted efforts to sensitize the public on the issue, using diverse information dissemination channels, including online.

Decrying the development, Ogbara warned that whoever swallowed the criminal baits did so at his or her own peril.
