According to reports, the corpse of a female prison warder who was allegedly been kidnapped by a male colleague has been found in a morgue in Nyahururu, Nakuru county in Kenya.

Nakuru Women GK Prisons warder Carol Chepchirchir who went missing on the night of Wednesday, April 3, 2019, was allegedly found dumped in a thicket in Subukia before it was moved to Nyahururu.

Confirming the suspected murder crime, the Nakuru Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, David Wangai, said Chepchirchir’s body had multiple injuries on the head and chest, indications she could have been assaulted by her alleged abductor.

At least one suspect was arrested and arraigned in connection with the deceased officer’s disappearance. Officer Joseph Kairu, also a prison warder based at Nakuru GK Prisons, was arrested by the DCI sleuths after it emerged he was reportedly the last person to be spotted with Chepchirchir on the day she went missing.

The accused appeared before Nakuru Court Resident Magistrate Wilson Kituru after an application seeking his detention was filed on Tuesday, April 9.

The court heard Chepchirchir had gone out to party with her colleagues, among them Kairu, at night in Nakuru Township during which she was kidnapped. Her disappearance came to light when she failed to show up at her work station on April 4.

The court directed the accused be detained at Nakuru Central Police Station for two weeks to give the detectives time to conclude their investigation. Kairu is suspected to had colluded with others who are yet to be arrested in abduction of their colleague.
