What David De Gea Said To Manchester United Teammates After Barcelona Mistake

David De Gea admitted he cost his side their Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona . The Manchester United goalkeeper made a costly error as Lionel Messi doubled his side’s lead on the night and ultimately took the tie beyond the Red Devils.

Philippe Coutinho added some gloss to the scoreline with De Gea said to be “inconsolable” at full-time.

The Sun reports the United No.1 accepted responsibility and although his teammates didn’t blame him, he issued an apology in the away dressing room.

De Gea is said to have held his hands up and claimed his team could have gone on to win the tie had it not been for his mistake.

The Spaniard’s future at Old Trafford remains unclear following the defeat at the Nou Camp.

United do not plan to make a decision on his future this summer but may be forced to sell him or risk losing him for nothing next year.

De Gea is demanding a salary in excess of £400,000-a-week and as things stand, United are not prepared to meet those expectations.

It could well be that a parting of the ways is deemed best for both parties, with De Gea having lost his form, and seemingly his focus.
