A woman has been arrested on suspicion of raping an elderly dementia patient at a care home in Florida, USA. Guettie Belizaire, 39, was reportedly found naked in the man’s room at around 5am.
The man later told police: “She jumped on me and raped me.”
Investigators say DNA evidence also links her with the alleged crime, at the Brookshire Assisted Living Facility in Melbourne.
Belizaire’s co-workers said the man – who has not been identified – was “distraught and confused”.
They were suspicious because she had been missing for around 90 minutes before she was found getting dressed in the man’s bathroom, it has been claimed.
Tests were carried out on the elderly man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Police say this evidence backed up the man’s claims, and Belizaire was taken into custody on Monday. She was fired after her arrest, having been suspended after the allegation was made.
The carer has been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of an elderly person, as well as abuse of an elderly person, Florida Today reports.
