A 22-year-old woman from Mayville, Durban, who was found outside the Chesterville Reservoir in South Africa on Tuesday – claims she was gang raped by four men and left to die.
She said she went to a tavern on Friday with friends.
“But during the night my friends disappeared and I was left sitting with some men I didn’t know. “I started feeling sleepy and I asked the men in the tavern to take me home.”she said.
She said the men then took her to their car and drove around with her until they reached the reservoir in Ridgeview, central Durban.
“They all raped me and left me there. I was in so much pain I couldn’t walk. I tried crawling out of the reservoir to find someone who could help me at the gate. I drank some water from the reservoir to stay alive,” she said.
On Tuesday, her prayers were answered when a resident saw her and helped.
The resident resident who helped her told Daily Sun she was dirty and looked very tired. I took her and gave her some bread. I think the men took advantage of her because she was weak,” he said.
He called the cops, who arrived and took her to the police station.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokeswoman Colonel Thembeka Mbele said a woman at a tavern was forced by men into a bakkie.
“They drove to Ridgeview where they allegedly gang raped her. A charge of rape is being investigated by the Cato Manor police.”
