Abba Kyari, former chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari has died and there have been so many reactions from Nigerians.

You will recall that the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, returned to Nigeria from Germany on March 14. Mr Kyari traveled with the Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to see the officials of Siemens AG towards improving electricity in Nigeria.

He had attended several functions upon his return before it was announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 24, 2020. He caught the dreaded virus while working for Nigeria.

A few days after his result was announced Abba Kyari released a statement that he was feeling well but would move to Lagos to receive proper treatment for coronavirus. He said he will be back to his desk soon but sadly that never happened.

There were reports that the chief of staff was flown abroad in an emergency, others said he had died when some people went on social media asking for his whereabouts.

This is a kind reminder to the fact that power is transient, and also an appeal to the government to improve our medical facilities in line with international best practices.

Abba Kyari’s death was inevitable partly as a result of his inability to travel abroad for medication as usual within the given time.
