Nigeria has been on lockdown for almost two weeks since the federal government announced that the lockdown was necessary to identify infected people of Covid-19 as well as reduce the spread of the virus.

There have been cries from Nigerians since the lock-down that there is suffering in the land and people have been unable to feed their families because they get their daily bread on the streets.

The federal government has also made provisions to help poor Nigerians this period. The government of Lagos state has been called out for sharing cups of rice and a tin tomato paste. There are also reports of some Nigerians who diverted the food been distributed to Nigerians. So what it seems like is that the federal government has played its part but some gullible Nigerians are impoverishing poor Nigerians.

A Nigerian police officer took to his social media platform to narrate how he met a woman on the street who was trekking with her daughter to lend money from a relative because they had been drinking garri a neighbor gave them for days. The woman reportedly sold drinks in traffic with her daughter and made her profit from her daily sales.

Some say, no food, no light that the Nigerian government is unfair to its people. Going by this information and the need to end the spread of the virus in Nigeria, what should the government do? End the lock-down and alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians or lock-down to end the spread of the virus?
