English-born Nigerian striker, Adebayo Akinfenwa, who plays for Wycombe Wanderers has revealed plans of swapping football at the end of his playing career.

The 38-year-old, popularly known as ‘The Beast’, is a huge wrestling fan and first made his interest about switching sports last year.

Akinfenwa, who has enjoyed a 20-year playing career is now considering going into wrestling as soon as he hangs up his boots.

‘I’ve had a couple of calls recently in regards to that [going into wrestling],’ he told talkSPORT.

‘I’ll be following up on that soon – so it could go up or down depending on the outcome of that. I can’t tell you a direct percentage in terms of that [coming to fruition], but it’s something I’m really passionate about, so watch this space, people.’

Akinfenwa, who is the strongest man on FIFA 21, also revealed which Premier League footballers he’d like to get in the ring with.

‘In terms of a Royal Rumble that’s something I’d want to win obviously – and there’s some tough lads out there, you know.

‘VVD [Virgil van Dijk] is in there all day long and [Adama] Traore of course. [Sebastian] Haller has to be in too, he’s a very strong guy, then there’s the likes of Troy Deeney and [Michael] Antonio.

‘Whoever I haven’t mentioned they can get at me later, but I back myself 100 per cent!’

The striker is currently injured but signed a contract extension with Wycombe this summer
