Cardi B has no qualms about not being a contender at the 2021 Grammys.  In a recent Instagram live the 28-year-old rapper said she ‘never pressed for a Grammy.

Subsequently revealing why she did not submit her hit song WAP with Megan Thee Stallion.

Waiting for the release of her full album so she can be nominated in 2022, Cardi said ‘I didn’t want to be submitted to award shows until I put out my album because I think my album is so good.’

While many artists including The Weeknd took serious issue with being left off the list at the upcoming award show, Cardi is holding out until she can feel proud of her complete work.

Still hitting back at the award show, which is being accused of being highly political, she emphasized, ‘Like I said, I never pressed for a Grammy, but y’all not gonna take away something that I know I worked my a** off [for], that I deserve,’ she emphasized.

Adding that if she ‘was pressed for a Grammy [she] would’ve submitted WAP for this year’ but chose not to, the best-selling rapper has high hopes for next year.

Continuing to talk about her upcoming work she said it ‘means something and I worked on it a lot. I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years,’ adding that ‘some songs are just so emotional to me because I did them during quarantine.’

She and Megan also did well at the AMAs as the duo picked up an award for Favorite Song – Rap/Hip Hop for WAP.

Despite Cardi’s cool mentality when it comes to the Grammys, the list of nominations caused immense upheaval and sparked a lot of drama on social media with her too finding herself in the line of fire.
