Real Madrid can never be like PSG because PSG cheats – Tebas

LaLiga president Javier Tebas has praised Real Madrid for the way in which they have made tough cost-cutting decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic, while he has once again highlighted the spending of Paris Saint-Germain.

Tebas stressed that while Real Madrid are in a good financial state due to the decisions they have made, they will never be able to compete with the likes of PSG when it comes to spending.

“I have said that Spanish football is not broke. Neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona,” Tebas said during a LaLiga event. “There are at least 80 percent of clubs in Europe that have it much worse. “As for Real Madrid, I think they have been the club that have managed the pandemic best, with an enormous effort [when it comes to reducing] their wage bill. “Real Madrid have the ability to do whatever they want [as a result of these cuts]. “They can never be PSG because PSG cheat. They have a wage bill of close to 600 million euros, which is impossible. [Real Madrid] are also not a state club, so it’s not possible.”

Barcelona lost to Bayern Munich while Sevilla could only draw with Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday night, but Tebas is not worried about the Spanish teams in the Champions League.

“There is still a long way to go in the Champions League. Last year it was the same and then everyone went through,” he commented. The level of LaLiga does not depend on a few Champions League matches. When the Premier League grew the most was in a phase of six years without winning the top competition.”

When quizzed on who is favourite players are in LaLiga Santander, Tebas had three names come to mind – one from Barcelona, one from Real Madrid and one from Atletico Madrid.
