Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Lucky Maselesele has reportedly died on Friday at the age of 41.
Details on the cause of death of the Alexander-born Maselesele have not yet been confirmed.
Maselesele enjoyed a decorated professional career which began in 1998 after being promoted to the Kaizer Chiefs, senior first-team squad.
The 41-year-old can be fondly remembered for scoring important goals against rivals Orlando Pirates in the Vodacom Challenge and Telkom Charity Cup.
Maselesele – a midfielder converted to a striker – also featured for other clubs such as Manning Rangers, Thanda Royal Zulu, FC AK and Black Leopards.
Contacted for a comment, close friend and former team-mate Isaac Mabotsa confirmed his death in a short statement.
“I can confirm yes that it’s true,” a devastated Mabotsa tells Kickoff.com.
“Can I just request that the media give us space at this present moment in time to come to terms with this loss?”
