Zamfara state assembly impeaches deputy governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau
The Zamfara house of assembly has impeached Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, deputy governor of the state.
The state lawmakers impeached the deputy governor during a plenary session today.
Earlier, the house had received the report of the seven-member committee set up by Kulu Aliyu, the chief judge of the state, to investigate the allegations against the deputy governor.
On February 7, Shamsudeen Basko, chairman of the house standing committee on information, had announced the service of an impeachment notice on Gusau.
Basko said the allegations against the deputy governor include “insubordination, abuse of office, and criminal self-enrichment”.
