AMVCA announces 2022 edition — to hold for eight days

The organisers of the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) say the award event will be held in Lagos on May 14.

The AMVCA is returning for its eighth edition after taking a one-year hiatus in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with the media on Thursday, Busola Tejumola, Multichoice Nigeria executive head, said there will be an eight-day event leading to the awards gala-night.

According to her, the AMVCA opening night is scheduled to hold on May 7 and will run until May 14, when the award night will take place.

It is understood that May 7 will be for the AMVCA opening night while a runway show tagged ‘Design for the Stars’ will be held the following day.

May 9 will be for the Multichoice Talent Factory while May 10 is for ‘Africa Magic Session with Content Creators’.

This will be followed by ‘Pan-African Food Festival and Cultural Day’ on May 11, with the next day dedicated to digital content creators.

A special gala will be held for award nominees on May 13 while the following day will be for the grand finale of the ceremony.

Busola said there will be 33 categories of awards including the newly introduced ‘Best Online Social Content Creator’ category.

A total of 12 categories will be decided by viewers’ votes while the remaining 21 will be decided based on the panels’ decision.
