Emmanuel Chinenye Emenike is a Nigerian former footballer who played as a striker. He most recently played for Belgian club Westerlo.

Emmanuel was born 10 May 1987.

Career

He began his career in professional football with Delta force in 2007. He had a difficult beginning as he used to go on foot for his training way back.

After being with the Club for a year, he moved to Black Aces in 2008. While at Black Aces, he made seven appearances and scored three goals before moving to Cape Town for the 2008/2009 session.

At Cape Town, he was in the reserve squad, hence he sometimes came on the field as a substitute. Emmanuel Emenike appeared in Sixteen matches and scored a goal during the 2008/2009 season at Capetown.

In 2009 However, Emmanuel Emenike caught the eye of Karabükspor. The club thereafter signed a three-year contract with the striker and he became an important part of the team. Between 2009 to 2011, he made 51 appearances and clinched 30 goals. It is worthy to note that, That was probably the most successful season in his playing career.

In 2011, Emmanuel Emenike moved to Fenerbahçe but immediately switched to Spartak Moscow for a fee of ?10 million. During his two years stay at Spartak, Emmanuel Emenike made a total of Forty Two appearances and scored Twenty One goals. In the summer of 2013, Emmanuel Emenike moved back to his former Turkish club. He is one of the Footballers in the Nigerian national team. He got his first goal in the friendly match his team had against Argentina on June 1, 2011. In 2013, he was given a national award by the then President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan.

In October, 2015, the Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, announced that he was retiring from the national team after five years. He wrote on Instagram on Monday night. No more Eagles career! After five great years, I am happy to announce that I have put full-stop to my national team career for the sake of national peace. It’s a pleasure for me to have played for this great country. I never regretted it and I think it’s the best time to end it. Million thanks to all the fans who have been very supportive during the good and bad times.

All my dreams came true in the national team, I dreamt to win Nations Cup for Nigeria after 20-years, I dreamt to played at the World Cup as well as to make a name for myself. In the space of five years, I got them. I am a winner! For every disappointing fans, maybe due to my inability to re-establish my goal scoring instinct for Super Eagles, I will like to say I am sorry but the ones I had scored counted well for the team. As long as Nigeria remains, you and I will always remember the name Emenike. Finally, I am happy to make a bow and continue supporting the team every time. It is worthy to note that Emmanuel Emenike played 35 times for the Super Eagles and scored 16 goals

Family

Emenike married former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria winner Iheoma Nnadi in 2016. The couple welcomed their 1st child in August 2017. They had their 2nd child on 13 March 2020. Emenike is the cousin of US international and West Bromwich Albion striker Daryl Dike.

Emmanuel Emenike revealed he is battling an unknown health condition. Emenike posted a video clip of himself receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital on social media. His caption read: “God is good, the pain is too much for me and my heart cannot carry it anymore.”
