Barcelona star, Gerard Pique, gives reason for not marrying singer Shakira yet
Gerard Pique, a Barcelona center-back, has explained why he hasn’t married his popstar girlfriend Shakira.
The Spanish international met Shakira after starring in the music video for her single ‘Waka Waka (Time For Africa),’ which was the official song of the 2010 World Cup.
Pique believes he is content with his life and does not believe marriage would have an impact on their relationship.
When questioned on The Overlap by Gary Neville why he hasn’t married Shakira, the Spaniard said, “No, I’m not married.”
Neville then questioned Pique if he wasn’t trying to keep Shakira on his toes, to which he answered, “It’s her mentality!”
He continued: “I like how we are right now. We have two kids, nine and seven, and we work good as a couple. We don’t have the need to be married, it’s fine.” [sic].
Neville then joked that Pique had proposed to Shakira privately but was turned down, but he laughed off the comment. “No no no,” he said, “I would tell you!”
