President Muhammadu Buhari has honoured Burna Boy with a member of the order of the federal republic (MFR) award.

The ‘African Giant’ crooner was among the 447 Nigerians and friends of the country honoured by the president at the 2022 National Honours Award Investiture.

The ceremony took place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in the federal capital territory (FCT).

In a now-viral video, Samuel Ogulu, the father of Burna Boy, is seen receiving the award on his behalf from Buhari.

In a statement, Buhari said the musician has made notable contributions to music and brought glory to the country with his achievements.

“Congratulations to Burna Boy on being conferred the 2021 Grammy, the world’s most prestigious musical award,” he had said.

“He has made notable contributions in the field of music which have brought glory to Nigerians at home and abroad. We are proud of his path-breaking achievements.”

It is understood that Buhari will also honour 2Baba and Teni with member of the order of the Niger (MON) rank.
