Saving Mr. Banks star, Ronan Vibert is dead
Veteran British actor, Ronan Vibert has died at the age of 58 following a battle with a ‘short illness.’
The 58-year-old film and television actor passed away at a Florida hospital on Thursday, confirmed his management team to Hollywoodreporter.com.
Ronan, who was born in Cambridge and brought up in South Wales, worked with many top directors during a successful career after studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
He was well known for works including Rome, Dracula and The Snowman as well as Saving Mr. Banks.
In recent years he had moved to Florida and died after a “brief illness” with more details not revealed.
He leaves behind his wife Jess Vibert and according to Deadline.com, a private family service will be held soon, before a celebration of his life in London.
The accomplished actor saw him comfortably move between roles in films, television series, and on stage.
His earlier successes included the miniseries Traffik which served as the basis for the 2000 film Traffic.
Ronan was a common face on British television during the 1990s with roles in series like Birds of a Feather, Lovejoy, and Gimme Gimme Gimme. He also was in The Buccaneers in 1995 with an all-star cast.
He went on become a star of the big screen as he appeared in Shadow of the Vampire in 2000 were he was opposite John Malkovich and Willem Defoe.
The following year he was in The Cat’s Meow with Kirsten Dunst and from there in 2002 he starred in The Pianist with Adrien Brody and in 2003 Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Then in 2006, he was in Tristan + Isolde with James Franco.
Other career highlights saw him star in Saving Mr. Banks in 2013 with the drama nominated for an Oscar.
