This is the last time you’ll ever pay for my shows in Lagos, Wizkid tells fans

Wizkid, the award-winning musician, has clarified his recent comment that 2022 would be the last time he would perform in Lagos state.

A few weeks ago, the singer came under backlash after he said ‘Vibes on the beach with Big Wiz’, his concert scheduled for December 30th, would be his last performance in Lagos.

“Last time I ever perform in Lagos. Let’s rage!!” he had announced.

His comment, however, provoked outrage, with many accusing him of “disrespecting” the city that made him a music star.

But speaking at a concert in Lagos on Saturday, the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner said some fans “misquoted” his remark.

The ‘Essence’ singer also declared that his future shows in the state will be free for his fans.

“Let me tell you something, When I said this is going to be my last show in Lagos right…What I really meant was, with the kind of love that you guys show me, it is very unfair to do shows around the world and come back and still make you guys pay to watch me perform,” he said.

“So, I want to make a promise tonight, this would be the last time you are ever gonna pay to come to Wizkid’s show.“
