Chrisland school: “My child was electrocuted”, Father says

Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old student of Chrisland International School in the Opebi area of Lagos, died of electrocution, her father Michael Adeniran has alleged.

Miss Adeniran died during the school’s inter-house sports activities at Agege Stadium, Lagos State, on Thursday. Her death is the latest of several controversies involving the school.

The deceased’s father, who had taken to social media on Saturday night calling for a probe into her death, told BBC Pidgin on Sunday that he learnt from her classmates at Chrisland school that his daughter was electrocuted.

Adeniran said his daughter “died from naked wire from one cotton candy vendor machine after she touched it and she was electrocuted immediately she leaned on it.”

He claimed water was poured on her which allegedly killed her immediately.
