I told AKA to buy gun for defence after he saw mine, says Burna Boy

Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion singer, says he once advised Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes to buy a gun for self defence.

The famed South African rapper was on Friday shot dead outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban.

AKA and his friend were walking to their car when they were approached by two armed men who shot them at close range. The assailants then fled the scene on foot.

The motive of the killing is being investigated as tributes continue to pour in for the deceased rapper.

In a now-deleted Instagram post on Thursday, the ‘African Giant’ crooner said the last time they met, AKA saw a gun with him and questioned the need for it.

The Grammy award winner said he had tried to persuade the South African to get one for self defence.

“WTF is all of that about, I just heard he died, seen that video at that restaurant,” he said.

“Took me out of a positive mood/ Took me back to the day when you saw my gun and you said I was wild.

“Then I told you you should have one too Cuz it weren’t like ni**az wasn’t dying but I thought you knew.

“And I ain’t really f**k wit you But I didn’t want you dead, it was like that with me and you, Wicked! hope they catch whoever did you wicked.

“I hope you rest in peace, even though we ain’t kick it. At the end of the day we some grown ass ni**az.”

In another post, the music star said the rapper’s death is a regret he has to live with.

“I wish he didn’t end like this. Another regret I gotta live with,” he added.
