Burna Boy’s sister, Nissi, shades Davido over new cat comment
Nissi, sister to Grammy-award-winning act Burna Boy has subtly shaded popular singer Davido following the latter’s statement about her brother in a recent interview.
Davido, on Thursday, expressed his thoughts on the array of stars in the Nigerian music industry, noting that he and fellow act Wizkid were the first young Nigerian artists to become famous.
The ‘Unavailable’ crooner continued mentioning Burna, alongside Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake, and tagging them as ‘new cats’, a term many believe to represent up-and-coming artists.
“Everybody knows now. I was one of the first. I and Wizkid were one of the first young artists to blow up and it feels good seeing new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, you know a lot of new cats coming, killing it, Asake who was on my album.
“So, yes, I think the future of Afrobeat is in good hands.”
Reacting to Davido’s statement, Nissi shared a video from Burna Boy’s concert on her Instagram account with the caption, “New cats dey face their hustle.”
In another post, Nissi, a singer and fine artist, shared a video of Governor Wike addressing trolls writing alongside; “Wike is indirectly saying; As e dey pain Dem e dey sweet us”.
Her post has since gotten many talking. While some fans agree with Nissi, a few others have taken time out to drag her.
This won’t be the first run-in between Burna and Davido. Recall last year, Burna Boy shaded Davido in his response to a post by Wizkid.
Wizkid had asked to be addressed a certain way to which Burna agreed, adding that although Wizkid remains everyone’s ”boss” in the industry, he holds more street cred than Davido in the industry.
“Lmao, normally Wizkid na every Naija artistes popsy for sure. But I be Uncle to Davido for the Music thing!!! Yes I said it!!!”.
