Court remands man for beating and pulling out woman’s dreadlocks in Ogun state

A Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun state has ordered the remand of a man identified as Oluwaseun Adebayo, who was arraigned by the police for allegedly beating and pulling out the dreadlocks of one Esther Odusanya, at Awosanya street, opposite Iyaloja house, Ajaka, Sagamu.

According to the police, Adedayo attacked Esther at Awosanya street, serving her several blows and pulled out her dreadlocks, causing bodily harm and discomfort.

The charge against the defendant reads

 

“That you, Adebayo Oluwaseun, on the 26th day of August 2023, at about 1105am at Awosanya street, opposite Iyaloja house, Ajaka, Sagamu in the Sagamu Magisterial district did unlawfully assaulted one, Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther by beating her over her face and over her head causing her bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 355 of the criminal code of Ogun state of Nigeria 2006.

That you, Adebayo Oluwaseun, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully and inherently assault one Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther, by beating her with fist blows all over her body and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 360 of Criminal Code Law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006.

That you, Adebayo Oluwaseun, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully wound and by similar act assault one Odusanya Olaoluwa Esther by pulling off her dreadlocks hair from her head, causing her bodily discomfort, thereby committee an offence punishable under Section 338 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006.”

 

When read to him, Adedayo pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate granted him bail in the in the sum of N200,000 bail and ordered that he be remanded at the Sagamu Correctional Center until he fulfils his bail condition.  She then adjourned the case till October 27, 2023.
