“I killed several goats for my wife” – Chacha Eke’s husband, Austin Faani speaks on living with a mentally ill partner (Video)

Austin Faani has opened up on what it’s like living with a mentally ill partner. While speaking at the Meticulous People Foundation Outreach, a foundation that deals with mental illness, he opened up on the many sacrifices he made for his wife.

Austin recounted an incident when Chacha Eke broke the mirror in the House because she felt people were creeping out of it.

In a bid to save his wife, he took her to church where a pastor deceived him into sacrificing goats for her sake.

Unfortunately, his efforts were futile and his money was wasted as Chacha remained the same.

“One night I was sleeping and the next thing I heard was ‘wah’ and I woke up and looked everywhere and I saw my wife standing in front of a big mirror around 1a.m in the night.

The mirror was on the floor she had shattered everywhere. When I asked her what was going on, she said some people were creeping out of the mirror so she had to break it. I petted her and told her to come sleep.

I am a very religious person, but I believe religion has done more harm to Africans than anything else.

I killed goats for my wife. In 2021 November I took her to a church because I told the pastor that my father-in-law killed a lot of cows for her, he said I should kill something for her. So I ran to Abraka market and bought a big goat for her, but at the end of the day, the same thing was happening to her.

And I was like what next needs to be done”.

Chacha Eke opens up on mental illness

Opening up on her mental health, Chacha Eke, during one of her outreaches for mental illness, recounted how she would always destroy properties in her house.

According to her, she and her husband didn’t have any property because she would always destroy them during her man!c episodes.

Chacha recounted an ugly experience in Enugu at Rit Hotel, where she smashed everything, wrecked the whole hotel, and reduced everything her family had to only what they were wearing.

Two years later, she repeated the same incident which led to being hospitalized where she was eventually diagnosed and given drugs which she would always flush in the toilet.
