Ministerial List Controversy

There were mixed reactions on and off social media on Friday after a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Maryam ‘Shetty’ Shettima, was delisted from President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominee list forwarded to the Senate. TSB News earlier reported that President Tinubu forwarded an additional 19 names of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening to complement the previous 28-man list sent to the lawmakers.

The news, however, emerged on Friday that Shetty, who was part of the second list sent to the Senate, has been withdrawn from the ministerial nomination and replaced with Maigari Mahmud, who is also from Kano State. The development has since stirred mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media, particularly Twitter.

Maryam Shetty reacts to her nomination withdrawal

Dr. Maryam Shetty has reacted to the withdrawal of her ministerial nomination by President Bola Tinubu. Shetty said she remains grateful for Tinubu’s unrelenting support and thankful for any decision from him. Shetty also thanked the Vice President, Kashim Shettima for his support.

In a series of posts on her X social media platform on Friday, she said she was grateful and thankful for any decision from the President.

She wrote, “I was just informed now at today’s plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdrawn my ministerial nomination and replaced me with Dr Mariga Mahmoud.

“I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you My President!”
