The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says its operatives have recovered the body of Adeyemi Azeez, a 27-year-old resident, who fell inside a drain collector canal on New Year’s Day.

Azeez was a resident of community avenue, Oshogun, Alapere Ketu, Kosofe LGA.

In a statement on Thursday, Margaret Adeseye, director of the state fire service, said the Azeez’s body was recovered after a two-day of intensive search.

“On January 3, 2024, at 20:56hrs, the agency received a distress call, prompting a swift response from the dedicated rescue crew at the Ikeja Fire station,” the statement reads.

“Over a two-day period, intensive search and rescue operations were conducted, culminating in the recovery of Mr. Azeez’s body on Wednesday at approximately 16:05hrs.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that Azeez accidentally fell into the drain collector canal leading to the lagoon on New Year’s Day.
