Nigerian singer, Ebaide Joy begins solo ride from Kenya to Lagos on motorcycle

Ebaide Joy, the fast-rising Nigerian singer and motorbiker, has embarked on a solo trip from Mombasa in Kenya to Lagos.

Ebaide, in an Instagram post, earlier announced that she would commence the solo trip on her motorbike on March 8.

In a follow-up post, she revealed that the decision behind the trip was informed by the life-changing car accident she had when she was 23.

She disclosed that she ended up being in a wheelchair for months before undergoing surgery to hold her spinal cord with the use of titanium rods and screws.

Ebiade said she wanted to “prove something” to herself by going on the trip.

“People say I am wasting my second chance, why am I wasting my life away? And putting my spinal cord in danger. I am doing this because I am trying to prove something to myself,” she said.

“I am the one in charge of my existence, of my life not my circumstances and situations. You see life has been a b***h and it has dealt with me the worst cards through my life.

“I waited for it to get better but it never did so I am taking it through my hands and proving to myself that I am the boss of my life. I am the one who determines what happens to me, no my situations or circumstances.”

She would be making the trip on her motorbike which she named Rory. It is a Tekken 250cc which weighs 140kg. It has a Lansing engine, 6-speed transition, 14-litre fuel tank, and dual exhaust.

Ebaide, who has released songs like ‘Japa’, ‘Carry Go’, and ‘Different’, joins the list of Nigerians who have embarked on solo trips to Lagos from other countries.

Pelumi Nubi is set to arrive in Lagos on March 23, after driving from London for almost two months.

Kunle Adeyanju, another Nigerian tourist, rode a bike from London to Lagos years ago.
