Abramovich puts Chelsea up for sale
Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea football club, has officially announced his decision to sell the English club after weeks of speculation.
The Russian billionaire broke the news in a statement released via the club’s website yesterday.
“I have always taken decisions with the club’s best interest at heart,” the statement read.
“In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the club, the fans, the employees, as well as the club’s sponsors and partners.”
According to Sky News, Abramovich has placed a £3bn price tag on Chelsea as he prepares to end his near-two decade ownership of the London club.
