CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele sues INEC over alleged plan to disqualify him from primaries
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over an alleged plan to disqualify him from presidential primaries.
In court documents obtained by Daily Trust, Emefiele, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, argued that he is not a political appointee and by provision of the constitution, he is expected to resign a month before the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
He also argued that a Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, had nullified section 12 (8) of the Electoral Act.
This is coming days after the CBN Governor denied purchasing a form to contest in the All Progressives Congress presidential primaries.
