A suspected robber – was arrested and found in possession of a cobra which he claimed has mystical powers to make him evade arrest.
The suspect identified as Eddison Mhembere who made the sensational claims that his snake had powers to make him avoid arrest – was perplexed at how his snake failed to protect him from the police raid in Zimbabwe.
” I don’t know what went wrong because I don’t always get caught. I am protected by the powers that I have, but I can’t explain what happened,” he said.
Chief Superintendent Mujiwa Sekayi (Officer Commanding Chitungwiza District) confirmed the arrest of Mhembere who is implicated in a robbery case as well as facing charges for breaching the Zimbabwe National Parks Act.
” One of our operatives received information that one of the suspects who was part of a gang perpetrating robberies was in Chitungwiza. Upon following up to that information, the suspect was picked up and fortunately, he led to the arrest of three other suspects to make them four. Among them was one person (Mhembere) found in possession of a snake which was about one and a half metres long,” he said.
The chief superintendent also added that all the suspects had been apprehended and taken to CID Murehwa for further investigations and the snake had been handed over to the department of national parks.
