The rapid response squad in Lagos has shut down a bar in Isheri/Berger axis and also arrested the bar owner and his customers after they flouted the social distancing directive in the state.

You will recall that the Lagos state government has directed that social distancing rules must be adhered to by every resident in the state and only allowed essential workers, the markets, hospitals, media, and others to go about their normal activities.

The government allows the market to open from 10 am to 2 pm daily to reduce the spread of the virus and also encourage social distancing. But a few business owners are still flouting the rules making it look like business as usual but that is not the case right now as the case is right now is for the survival of the people. Please stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus.

We were just observers when coronavirus hit China. We thought it was a disease for the whites or for a cold environment. So we kept flying out and in with reckless abandon. Seeing the health implications of the disease in other parts of the world did not teach us anything. The rich brought into the country. Immediately the rich took it a little bit seriously. Then further down the chain, it kept spreading. Many still doubt it’s ability to kill an Africa man because we know disease no dey kill African man. It got to the poor but yet nobody is taking it seriously because we want to see somebody drop dead in our very eyes before we will believe.

Nigeria has recorded 17 deaths so far and 493 cases. If we want this lockdown to end we need to adhere to rules for us to survive else we stay longer in lockdown. We are battling with COVID-19 while some still go out to eat Nkwobi and drink alcohol.

Life can never be normal again even after the unprecedented pandemic stops.
