‘My ex started beating me while I was pregnant’ — beauty expert Diiadem speaks on failed marriage

Adeola Adeyemi, the Nigerian beauty entrepreneur better known as Diiadem, has opened up about her failed marriage.

Diiadem and Odekunle, her ex-husband, had their traditional marriage in 2017. They have a child together.

The entrepreneur spoke about what she described as her “abusive” relationship in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, the media personality.

Diidem alleged that despite being pregnant, her ex-lover would beat her even at the slightest provocation.

She said a few weeks into her introduction, she knew they were not destined to be together.

“I saw the signs before I got pregnant but I felt he loves me too much so he won’t shout at me. Everything changed when I got pregnant so it just didn’t work,” she said.

“I knew in my heart two weeks to my introduction that I won’t marry him but I proceeded because of what people would say. Then his father was saying we should proceed with the wedding so I was just using the pregnancy to stop them. But I already knew I won’t marry him because I know what I went through.

“It was physical abuse and there are even scars. At the time, people saw me and asked “motor jam you”, it was that bad. I had to pretend to faint so he will stop beating me.

“I left when my daughter was a month and two weeks. This beating of a thing started when I was 6 weeks pregnant and I was just guiding my belly.”
