We’ll review all evidence before confirming Hilda Baci’s feat, says Guinness World Records

The Guinness World Records says it will review all the evidence first before officially confirming the record set by Hilda Baci, the Nigerian chef.

Last month, Baci announced her intention to set a new world record for the longest cooking marathon.

Baci achieved the feat in the early hours of Monday at the Amore Gardens, Lekki in Lagos.

The Nigerian chef made history after cooking for more than 87 hours and 45 minutes, breaking a record that was previously set by India’s Lata Tondon back in 2019.

While Nigerians celebrated Baci’s achievement on Twitter, a user wondered why the Guinness World Records hadn’t said anything about Hilda’s new record.

“Why is Guinness World Record not showing or talking about Hilda‘s cook-a-ton? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube),” the user wrote.

“We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record,” Guinness World Records responded.

Baci, it is understood, will be stopping the cook-a-thon when she hit the 97-hour mark.
