Six Nigerians are attempting to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) videogame marathon in Lagos.
Kolade Daniel, convener of the world record attempt, alongside his teammates Fifehanmi Oladimeji, Emmanuel Awe, David Igbeneghu, Ifeanyi Iwelumo and Kingsley Banney earlier revealed their intention in a social media post.
They announced that the three-day event will be held at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, Lagos from December 22 to 24, 2023.

Daniel said the intent behind the record attempt is to showcase that the intersection of football and gaming has the potential to offer not only personal enjoyment but also professional opportunities.
“We are merging our love for football and our favourite football video game pastime in our record attempt,” he said
“Both are no longer hobbies or leisurely activities for people but in this part of the world, gaming is still growing in popularity as a career path.”
Also speaking, Oladimeji, one of the gamers, said, “We used to be called lazy and unserious by our elders whenever we played football on the streets or played it on our video game consoles.”
He added that the attempt will also show the possibilities that exist for Nigerian gamers.
It remains to be seen if the GWR is aware of their attempt.
The longest marathon playing a Pro Evolution Soccer game is 40 hours. It was achieved by T-Mobile (Austria) in Vienna, Austria, during June 19-25 2015.
The players to successfully complete the full game were: Mirza Jahic, Michael Hambrusch and Phillip Oppeneiger.
